Once your tattoo is done, it's time to make sure it heals properly.
First and foremost whatever you do, do NOT pick at the scabs of your new tattoo.
If your scab comes off too soon, you run the risk of having the ink "heal
out," which will leave a blank spot in the tattoo design and then you'll
have to get that part re-inked. This can happen somewhat during the natural
healing process, but picking at the scab you can pretty much guarantee it.
No matter how much it may itch, don't pick or scratch it. To reduce healing
time, itching, and scabbing we highly recommend
Tattoo Aftercare
,
we feel this is the best product on the market bar none. Reduce tattooo scabbing
to near none to light flaking and compleate healing in days instead of weeks!
You can take a shower with your tattoo, but don't let it sit and
soak under under the spray. Wash it gently with a mild, natural soap using
just your fingertips lightly, and try to roll or scrape off as little scab
as you can. Rinse quickly and when you dry off make sure to pat the tattooed
area, do NOT scrape or rub with towel.
Now and for the rest of your life, your tattoo will need as much sun protection
as it can get. If the surface is still raw, do not put any sunscreens on it,
this may cause skin irritation. Keep it covered out of the sun, with soft loose clothing. Sunburn causes tattoos to fade and lose color intensity, and it
can make the details and fine lines of your tattoo turn blurry.
Tattoos that are brand-new should get a light smear of antibiotic ointment
on them or THC
cream
,
until the scab forms. Once the scab starts, you will want to switch to an unscented
lotion or THC
cream
to keep the skin moisturized.
Initial healing for a new tattoo to scabbed is about 3 days on average and
the scab will often fall off around days 7-10 but individual skin healing will
vary. Using Tattoo
Aftercare
your
healing time will be greatly reduced to as little as a few days, with no scabbing
to slight flaking. The tattoo will usually still have some dry skin on top
(nicknamed "the saran wrap" phase
by many) after the heavy scab comes off and after two weeks the skin surface
is often healed. The new tattoo may be flat at this point, or it might
take a little longer to become flush with the skin.
